I hope everyone is enjoying the transition into fall! It's still warm here, but it's not 90 degrees anymore, thank goodness.
It's been a bit of a chore to get through art projects recently, but I have lots of fun things on the horizon that I'd like to share with you. If you're subscribed to my Patreon page, you may know a couple things I'm working on, including Cute Girl-tober. But for those who are new, and want to know more about my current and future projects, keep reading!
First off, I want to let you know what platforms I currently use, so you know where to find me!
My main platform is Instagram. It where I am most consistent in posting. Right now, I am posting everyday for Girl-tober, but I generally post several times a week. I like to post photos mostly, but sometimes I'll delve into posting videos, reels, and of course, stories.
I use Twitter very sparingly; I don't have much to Tweet about, and I'm not a fan of using Twitter as an art platform. I'm on there, but don't expect lots of Tweets from me. I'd much rather write longer blog posts like these.
My Etsy shop is called Soft Peach Designs! I update my Etsy frequently with announcements, listings, and on the occasion, sales. I sell art prints, stickers, paintings, and traditional works. I plan on expanding my product list to include keychains, pins, and other trinkets like that.
Soft Peach Designs
I've been on Patreon for a while, but this year is when I have been using it to its full potential. Over on Patreon I have the Soft Peach Club, a tier where I create a monthly mini print and sticker only for my patrons to enjoy! I also post more behind the scenes work, NSFW content, and more!
I'm also on Tiktok! I post very sparingly over there, but I'm always scrolling through the platform when I'm supposed to be working. Anyone else? When I do post, I like to showcase my art and use fun audios. I'd like to create more content over there, so be sure to check it out too!
Last but not least, of course, is this website! Here I post blogs, showcase my art, and have my contact info. Think of it as the hub for all the rest of my platforms!
Current Comic Projects
My first comic, Jazz, is on its third chapter! If you haven't seen/read it, it's about a high school girl named Jazz who comes across magical girl powers and uses them to defeat the various demons throughout her school. It's a slice-of-life/magical girl story! It started out as a short story I worked on in college, but grew into a much longer story over time. The first 2 chapters can be found on my Etsy, or as digital downloads on my Patreon!
I am currently working through the second part of chapter 3. It's been a bit of a chore to get through, however, and I'm hoping to take a break from it to focus on other projects. I don't want to leave those who read part 1 hanging, however! So I will finish part 2 no matter what! It might just take a while.
EDIT: I am taking another indefinite hiatus from Jazz.
Molly's Ranch Story
This newer project spawned after playing a bit of Harvest Moon: Animal Parade, which is one of my favorite games. It will be a web-comic based off of my save file for the game, and it will follow the life of a young rancher who moves to the town named Castanet. She saves the town, falls in love, and starts a family on a ranch. It will be sweet and wholesome with a little bit of drama and fun characters.
Right now, I am working on the backbone parts of the comic, like character sheets, an outline, and other story elements. It will be a while until I can start working on pages, but this will be the first time I make a web-comic! I'm excited about that. I will also push myself with this project by drawing intricate backgrounds, animals, and interactions, all things that I struggle with as an artist. I like to challenge myself, and the work I'm doing with Jazz will help my prepare for this monster of a project. Oh, right, did I mention I plan on having 30 chapters?
I Promise. (Melanie & Teo)
(art by @poku_art)
For this comic project I'm collaborating with my good friend @poku_art. We created this idea back in college several years ago. Back in quarantine, we came together and started actually conceptualizing this comic.
I had a blog post all about "I Promise" back on my old website, but I'll explain the story again. It will follow the high school years of a boy named Teo, a music-loving, guitar playing, shy and insecure boy. He falls head-over-heels for a girl in his class named Melanie, a slightly nerdy girl who loves studying bugs. The comic will follow their relationship, as they share their firsts in everything that has to to with love. It will be a wholesome love story with plenty of sad moments, funny moments, and bittersweet moments.
We have so much fun working on this together because along with picking each other's brains as artists do, we get to reminisce about our individual high school days. The story takes place in the early 2010's, around the time each of us were in high school, so we get to unlock tons of memories every time we get together. We're hoping to have 4 arcs following each year of high school as both physical and digital copies.
Please follow my friend @poku_art on instagram! His art is amazing, and needs more eyes on it for sure.
Other Passion Projects
My novel Tetarra is the oldest project on this list. Created in 2005-2006 when I was still in middle school, this story has changed the most. At first I wanted it to be a novel, then I had plans in college to make it a comic, then last year I changed my mind and now we're back to a novel format again.
This story takes place in Tetarra, a world created by a goddess based off the seasons. During the creation of the world, a fraction of the goddess's powers were given to every human. These powers are called "Aura", and they helped with their survival and everyday tasks. The 1st human, also named Aura, is the daughter of the goddess, and 4 superhuman-like Demigods watched over her and the sacred items leftover from the creation of the world. Over generations, Aura and the 4 demigods were reincarnated again and again, destined to protect Aura and the sacred items. After an era of greed, corruption, and thievery, a gigantic beast awakened and almost destroyed the world. Aura and the demigods of this era were never heard from again, and 500 years later, the events of the story take place. We follow a simple farm girl named Emi as she goes on a journey with her sisters to uncover the forgotten history of the 500 year-old apocalypse, meet the other demigods, and attempt to save the world.
Phew, that was a long explanation.
If you are subscribed to my patreon page, you will see a rough draft of Chapter 1. It's surreal to be writing this novel on-and-off; I've had this story for more than half my life, and I've conceptualized it probably hundreds of times, and I really want to see it a reality above all my other comics and stories. It has so many inspirations, including Avatar: "The Last Airbender", "Harry Potter", "Castle in the Sky", and much more.
Find Me on the Horizon Line
This story is one I started in college. Like most of my projects, it started as a short story, and grew bigger than I thought it was. I actually wrote it as a final for one of my writing classes!
This story follows a girl named Reba, a half human, half mermaid hybrid and the youngest of 5 girls. Her dad is human living along the beach, and her mom is a mermaid, living underwater with her other 4 sisters. It's a more introspective story covering themes like mixed races, divorced parents, coming of age, and puberty.
Reba is quiet, insecure, and unsure if she will even grow her mermaid tail. I want to explore her mind and character in this story, which would be either another novel, or an illustrative comic.
This project is taking a back seat right now, but I don't want to scrap it because I feel like it could hold a good message for someone out there who could relate to Reba and other characters.
Also mermaids. I love 'em.
As an artist, I have so many projects, ideas, and stories that I want to pursue that end up sitting in my head for ages. It's hard when you see something so clearly in your head, but actually putting in the work and creating the project is an undertaking. It's something that I'm learning as an artist; I don't have to pursue everything. But the projects I've talked about here are ones that I know will come to fruition someday. I get so passionate about my ideas that it hard to not talk about it some days.
I hope you found this look into my current and future projects interesting! If you want to see my progress, check out the social media platforms that I mentioned above, and consider supporting me on Patreon! It means a lot when people like the work that I put out. It motivates me to continue doing what I love!
