I am a workaholic and passionate artist at heart, but what are my other hobbies?
Outside of maintaining my Etsy Shop, my blog "Peach Dabbles",Patreon, and many comic projects, I have other activities and hobbies I like to pursue during my downtime.
Read on to get to know a little bit about me!
I love games. You could consider me a gamer girl at heart. I grew up with games like Legend of "Zelda", "Mario", "The Sims", and "Harvest Moon". I love to play games in my downtime or to take a break from working. As a kid, I probably played more games than drew most of the time.
Right now, I am playing through "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity". I loved the first Hyrule Warriors game, so I'm having a lot of fun with this game too! Along with playing a lot of single player games, I enjoy playing multiplayer games with my friends. We play "Super Smash Bros: Ultimate", "Overcooked", and of course "Among Us". Although, I can only play through a couple rounds of "Among Us" before my anxiety takes over!
Cooking/Learning New Recipes
Cooking is a newer hobby that I really picked up during quarantine. Now that I live alone, I find myself experimenting with more recipes and making yummy dishes to share with my friends. Last year, I made a pumpkin pie from scratch, whole roasted chicken, and baked tons of breads and pizzas. Recently, I made homemade oatmeal raisin cookies for my boyfriend for his birthday, and he loved them!
Somedays, I also like to throw whatever I have in the fridge and make a dish out of that. It's usually not perfect, but I love the experimentation with cooking. It's an art form in of itself.
Trying New Restaurants
Along with cooking for myself and for my friends, I like to try out local restaurants in my city. I live in Columbus, Ohio, and there's a lot of good restaurants here! One place my boyfriend and I discovered was "Kirin", a Japanese ramen place that serves big bowls of noodle soup. We had been looking for a new ramen place since we were let down by some places, so we were excited to show this place off to our friends. And yes, their ramen is soooo good!
If you live in Columbus, Ohio and you love ramen, check out Kirin! It's in Clintonville near Hot Chicken Takeover. You won't regret it!
Bike Riding/Playing Tennis
This summer I wanted to be active like I was last year during quarantine, but I was getting burnt out by doing at-home workouts. I've also been dying to play tennis with my friends. Finally this year I managed to get a game of tennis in with my boyfriend, who is also getting more active! Just recently we went bike riding together and it was tons of fun! I love riding my bike; sometimes I challenge myself to go up big hills. The satisfaction of climbing the hills and riding it back down is amazing. It's especially fun to be active with someone else; for some reason I can push myself more if I have a buddy with me. I hope to get some more rounds of tennis and bike riding in before Autumn weather takes over.
Art Supply/PC Shopping
I love shopping. I think I get it from my mom. We would take all-day trips to the mall when I was younger, and I love browsing and window shopping. I'm not the type to spend a ton of money, but I do like to splurge every now and then, especially on art supplies and PC setups. Last year, I saved up the cash to purchase my PC, and I like to buy pieces and gadgets for it. Right now I'm saving up for a gaming chair, a second monitor, and a better desk.
On the art side, I absolutely love stepping into my local Blick store. I could stay in there for hours just looking at sketchbooks. I usually end up spending a lot more than I want to on my art supply trips, but it ends up worth it. Blick always has sales going on, so it makes the load a little easier. I go to Blick when I have a traditional piece in mind that I need certain supplies for (I acutally need to make a Blick trip soon).
These are my favorite hobbies outside of art! What do you do outside your working time? I'd love to know! Expect a couple more blog posts in the near future!
